An Administrative Scrivener (Gyoseishoshi) is a nationally qualified professional in Japan who prepares documents for submission to government authorities and assists clients with various administrative procedures.

At TORIKANI, we primarily specialize in immigration and status of residence procedures for foreign nationals in Japan.

Why TORI（Bird）, KANI（Crab）?

“Tori” is a protein – rich, nutritious animal. It can be boiled or grilled, and has long been popular as an auspicious animal because its wings and feathers symbolize freedom, flight, and ascent.

The “crab” is another seafood that can be cooked or grilled, and also has auspicious symbols of victory, protection from evil, fertility, rebirth and regeneration.

Important Notes

Government application and issuance fees are charged separately at the amount applicable at the time of the procedure.

Additional fees may apply in cases involving special circumstances, including applications following a previous denial.

Additional fees may also apply when attendance at an Immigration Services Agency office or travel outside our usual service area is required.

For Business Manager applications, additional costs such as company incorporation expenses, judicial scrivener fees, and business plan review fees may apply depending on the case.

Refund Policy

Refund Policy for Immigration Applications

If an application for a status of residence submitted with our assistance is denied, we will generally assist with a reapplication without charging an additional professional fee.

Depending on the circumstances of the case, we may also assist with a second reapplication.

If the application is ultimately denied despite these efforts, the professional fees paid to us will be refunded after deducting any actual expenses already incurred in connection with the application.

For Business Manager applications, Naturalization applications, and Permanent Residence applications, 50% of our professional fee is non-refundable regardless of the final result.

Cases in Which No Refund Will Be Provided

A refund will not be provided where the denial or inability to continue the application is caused by circumstances attributable to the applicant, sponsoring company, spouse, or other relevant party.

Employment-Based Statuses of Residence

No refund will be provided in cases including, but not limited to:

• Material facts that may adversely affect the application were intentionally concealed from us.
• The applicant commits a criminal offense while the application is pending.
• Required taxes have not been properly paid.
• Required social insurance contributions have not been properly paid.
• The applicant or sponsoring company fails to cooperate in submitting additional documents requested by the Immigration Services Agency.
• The application is withdrawn before a decision is made.
• The applicant declines the employment offer after filing.
• The sponsoring company cancels the applicant’s employment after filing.

Spouse-Related Statuses of Residence

No refund will be provided in cases including, but not limited to:

• Material facts that may adversely affect the application were intentionally concealed from us.
• The applicant commits a criminal offense while the application is pending.
• Required taxes have not been properly paid.
• The applicant or sponsor fails to cooperate in submitting additional documents requested by the Immigration Services Agency.
• The applicant’s or sponsor’s financial circumstances materially deteriorate after filing.
• A required guarantor can no longer be provided.
• The application is withdrawn before a decision is made.

Permanent Residence Applications

No refund will be provided in cases including, but not limited to:

• Material facts that may adversely affect the application were intentionally concealed from us.
• The applicant commits a criminal offense while the application is pending.
• Serious or repeated traffic violations occur.
• Required taxes, pension contributions, or other public obligations have not been properly paid.
• The applicant has extended or frequent absences from Japan that adversely affect the application.
• The applicant fails to cooperate in submitting additional documents requested by the Immigration Services Agency.
• The applicant’s employment or financial circumstances materially deteriorate after filing.
• A required guarantor can no longer be provided.
• The application is withdrawn before a decision is made.

Naturalization Applications

No refund will be provided in cases including, but not limited to:

• Material facts that may adversely affect the application were intentionally concealed from us.
• The applicant commits a criminal offense while the application is pending.
• Serious or repeated traffic violations occur.
• Required taxes, pension contributions, or other public obligations have not been properly paid.
• The applicant fails to cooperate in submitting documents requested by the Legal Affairs Bureau.
• The application is withdrawn before a decision is made.
